Background of Bob Moore’s work in music and poetry:
Bob Moore is a writer of poems and songs. He’s been active in the New Hampshire seacoast area since the early 1990’s. He’s a self-taught finger-style guitar player and writes songs in the folk and blues tradition. He’s also a composer of solo guitar instrumentals in the vein of Leo Kottke, Ed Gerhard, Adrian Legg, Scott Ouellette, and Stephen Bennett.
His songwriting has been influenced by many traditional and contemporary writers including John Prine, Loudon Wainwright III, David Olney, Eliza Gilkyson, Mary Gauthier, Craig Werth, Neil Young, The Beatles, and David Mallett.
His poetry often has a lyrical, musical component. He bills himself as a semi-formalist but also writes in the free verse genre. His poetry influences include Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Mary Oliver, and Walt Whitman.
Moore’s original music often tells a story. He uses humor, heart-ache, and life lessons to channel a song. He works as a solo artist and with musician friend Cynthia Chatis to present music as a duo or small ensemble. Moore’s vocal work with Ms. Chatis blends harmonies that sound natural and multi-dimensional. Cynthia is a gifted vocalist. Her resonant voice has a Celtic ring to it. Moore also works with musician friend Wayne Benham. He’s a talented blues haromica player from the blues, and R & B tradition. Wayne’s playing is stellar work and gives Moore’s songs a palpable edge.
Moore is the host of the First Friday Coffeehouse at the Exeter UU Church in Exeter, NH and has been running this coffeehouse since 2008.
Moore is also the co-editor of a biennial publication of poetry and photography called “The Lit FUUSE”.
